Ordered food and beer today and had them delivered. It worked out great and everything tasted very good. We will definitely repeat this again soon.
Delicious food (large portions) and an ideal place for guests from abroad who want to experience something "typically German". My friends were always very excited !!
Go elsewhere, not worth it for the beer. It appears to be a self service restaurant, so rude and incompetent are the staff.
If you want German home cooking and a good, home-brewed beer, the Eisgrub is the place for you. The food is delicious, the portions are big and the ambience is fascinating, unless the corona pandemic paralyzes everything ^^. The corona-related delivery service is great. The food came at the requested time and the supplier was warm and spoke perfect German. I can only highly recommend the Eisgrub.
The food is good. Staff, however, took a lot of getting used to, sometimes sloppy! Beer too expensive.
Delicious beer, nice service and a great atmosphere. The shank looked delicious. We drink to the "light lock down". Goodbye again .... ???
It was an experience again .. Enjoyed a delicious beer after work outdoors under the heat radiator in the fresh air. Delicious food and a good-humored waiter round off the matter ... Gladly again .. Highly recommended
Super atmosphere, super Service, Best beer in my neighbourhood!
Very tasty beer, good home-style food. Fair prices, service always on the ball.
Great food, Drinks, Atmosphere
The food was very good, service friendly and quick. Highly Recommended
Super delicious food. Ox paribs with red cabbage and mashed potatoes. Great.
Historical building with a good kitchen and excellent beer.
Great German beer and great German food, friendly service.
Generous portions that are very, very tasty. The beer is very tasty. Again and again gladly and absolutely to be recommended
Jolly and helpful staff, best pork-knuckle in Hessen, enjoyable meal at a very reasonable price
Nice atmosphere. (There is a bit of a smell inside. Maybe because it is brewed there or because of all the cheeses that are on offer: D) The food ??? was very good The knuckle had a good crust and was tender on the inside. The schnitzel was good too and the side salad had a delicious dressing. In general, the portions are very large ? The house beer was very tasty leck Prices were reasonable ? Three of us could even have saved ourselves a dish, as the knuckles are so huge.
In advance - there were 6 of us and the food was good! Now for the rest. It was about 28 degrees outside, so we wanted to refresh ourselves with some tap water. The waiter's statement: 'We don't give out tap water here. Besides, you can't drink that here in Mainz anyway '. The whole thing came across from the basement quite flippantly. We then ordered 4 bottles of water. It came: 4 unlabeled bottles of water that were very reminiscent of tap water - why should there otherwise be no label? The bottles only cost a mere € 6.50. Per bottle, of course. When we paid we kindly pointed out to the waiter that 6.50 was a cheek for such a bottle. He even offered to talk to the boss, when we specifically considered this, the waiter withdrew the offer, 'otherwise just write an email to the info @ email address' No - we would like to tell the boss personally . When I arrived at the counter, I asked for the boss, another waiter came to me. I asked him why you can't get tap water here. His answer: 'In this weather we all get tap water'. Aha. Our waiter and another waiter walked in quickly and intervened in an unfriendly manner. 'That's not true, we don't give out tap water.' He repeated: 'The water in Mainz is inedible here ...'. It is our decision and our perception what is edible and what is not, but good. In any case, this service was inedible and therefore definitely not to be recommended!
Excellent!!!
Nice beer. Good food and slightly more extensive menu than most Brauhauser. Schnitzel was really mega.
A must stop in Mainz, decent prices and a real German brewhaus!
Always a pleasure, great traditional German kitchen und the perfect home-made beer with it
Good beer, good food. Shouldnt need to say more!
Must visit ... excellent place, very traditional, own beer and delicious food
Great people, really nice and helpful... best food in Mainz, large portions and also tastey...
Great atmosphere, very nice staff, excellent cleanliness and reasonably quick service. Food tasted very good, especially the meat and the cream soup. We recommend!
We were there with fam in order to watch some soccer when the crowd started shouting and almost fighting each other, screaming insults. The shocking point was when they shoutet for no reason. Unfortunately, the personnels reaction was just to scream with them instead of giving us another table.
Good classic German food. Great beer.
Great Pork Knuckle & good service although we are not German speaker
Great beer and atmosphere!
Great food, Drinks, Atmosphere and Service (in English). Highly recommend this place to anyone.
We enjoyed traditional German cuisine. It was a popular shop, so I had to go after making a reservation or come out early at around 5 o'clock. The menu does not have photos in German only, so a translation app is required. Waiters speak English.
I celebrated my step dad's 50ths anniversary here. He liked the beer and schweinhaxe so much it brought tears to his eyes. Would give 10 stars if I could.
Always a good time coming here. The beers are cold, the food is authentic and cooked nicely. The staffs are friendly and helpful.
Very nice dining experience. Refreshing house beer. Friendly staff and nice environment.
5 stars for * Good beer * Absolutely stunning ambience * The brewery theme is breathtaking * Very friendly staff * Open to everyone (me, I was dining alone) * Wifi is extremely good. HD streaming level
A staple for every layover in Mainz. Whether I stop in for a quick lunch or we spend a few hours in the evening for dinner and drinks, I am never disappointed! The goulash is very nice and light, perfect for lunch with a bier! The bier is delicious with varieties to suit everyone’s tastes. For dinner, I always go with the schnitzel. They have all the sauces you could want on it. I go simple and I enjoy the bratkartoffeln and rotkraut! The service is fantastic and the place gets busy Thursday-Saturday evenings!
Great beer. Great food.
The beer was so good and loved the turkey schnitzel with beer sauce!! My dad had the ox cheek and said it was really tender and tasty. Would highly recommend as had a great atmosphere too and was not too expensive.
Excellent food, beer, and service!
never let me down. €12.8 for huge pork knuckle, €4.9 for house light beer. enjoy a relaxing afternoon with my accompany. we went there around 1pm, there's only one waiter to serve many tables, yet he is still helpful and patient. btw i can't finish the knuckle and the waiter help me to pack it. it is still crispy after few hours.
I always come back and I always like what I eat.
Very nice and chill vibes inside the restaurant. Service was ok but food especially the crispy pork knuckle wins the restaurant 5 star rating! The meal we had was brilliant. Staff can understand English quite well. They recommended us the beer we wished to have. Tho we were not beer fans but we did enjoyed. Nice decor. Great dining experience.
the best place ever, for sure my favorite bier ist da!!! the best Schweinshaxe !!!! <3
A nice little beer hall next to the Roman Theatre train station. Good selection of local beers, which is surprising for the country known for its usually indistinguishable lagers/pilsners.
I do enjoy me some Eisgrub! Traditional German food. I recommend the chefs recommendation! The gulash is especially amazing! It is an enormous restaurant, so be patient with the staff. They do a great job at keeping the drinks flowing! Definitely a great alternative to a traditional bar for a group of friends, if that is too busy for you.
You shall not be too excited inside if you are not a German. We were a group of 75% Chinese. The waiter was not so friendly from the beginning and until the end we may know why. The story was, one of our friends got drunk during the meal that we actually did not notice in the first place. He started to dance on the table. We saw some German dance on the table before in a bier restaurant when they were really happy, drunk and relaxed. The waiter said that it is too rude and ask him to get down from the table which he did immediately. Until this part we admit that it is all our fault. BUT! The waiter started to be very unfriendly to him and even asked him "where are you come from?" I guess a person with enough emotional intelligence would not say that to a drunk person in such situation but to talk with the companion. Also, you will not ask a German where he came from when he is drunk in a restaurant. This is hard to imagine to happen in eastern Asia and there could only be some cultural difference reason? Anyway, the bier shall be at least good enough to make our friend drunk:)
Own brewery.. excellent German fare food... pork knuckle crispy outside, gorgeous salad. Reasonable price. What else to complain... none.
An excellent brauhaus in Mainz! The beer is simply wonderful and the place very typical and comfortable. Higly recommended.
Nice locally brewed beer, affordable prices and great atmosphere. This is an incredible experience and a great place for both history and good food. We ordered the schweinhaxel, an amazing dish with tasty sauerkraut and crisp meat. The portions where huge! we struggled to finish the whole dish! Absolutely recommended!
